Draft for review, 19 September 2026.
Rika is a friends-only app for chatting, playing, sharing rides and taking on challenges with people you already know. This page says what Rika keeps about you, who sees it, and how to take it away.
What Rika keeps
- Your account: your email address and a password, stored as a salted hash, never as the password itself.
- Your profile: your name, handle, photo, area, a line about you, your interests, and whether you said you are over 18.
- What you share: messages and reactions, statuses and the neighbourhood you name with one, rides you offer or ask for, games you play, and your challenges, check-ins and their photos.
- Where you are, only when you say: a status can name a neighbourhood from Rika’s list. While you drive a ride, you can share your position with the riders who have a seat, from an hour before leaving until three hours after. Rika never tracks you in the background.
Who sees it
- Your friends see your profile, your status and the neighbourhood you named, the challenges you start, and the rides you offer.
- Friends of your friends see your profile, the rides you open to them, and which friends you share. They never see where you are.
- People in a chat, circle, game or ride see what happens there.
- Nobody else. Rika has no public feed, and a block hides two people from each other everywhere.
What Rika does not do
- It does not sell your data or show you ads.
- It does not read your contacts or your location without you asking it to.
Where it is kept
On Rika’s own server, with the maps drawn by Mapbox. When you open a map, Mapbox receives the map area your phone asks for, and not who you are.
Taking it away
In Settings, Delete account removes your profile, friendships, messages, statuses, rides, check-ins and photos, cancels rides you were driving and tells your riders, and deletes your sign-in. It cannot be undone.
Questions
A contact address will be added here before Rika is public.
